"Jon
Semmes and the Florida Friends is
the finest acoustic band currently performing in Citrus County.
Ingrid, Ellis, Pete Hennings,
and Pete Price combine their considerable musical talents to
enhance
Semmes'songs. Each of the Florida Friends was a successful solo
act before joining Semmes. With every member contributing, the
songs
shine with close harmonies and crisp arrangements that feature
flute, guitar, fiddle, bass and percussion. "

Pete
Hennings was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He came to
Florida in 1976 as a performer with Pennsylvania's Bicentennial
Wagon Train. Pete was so impressed with what he saw here
that he moved here that same year. Pete has since become
a regular
performer at Crystal River's Studio Art Center coffeehouse, and has been a
featured guest on WMNF's Live Music Showcase. He has also performed at folk
festivals throughout the state, including the Florida Folk Festival, the Will
McLean Festival, and the most recent Wings and Strings Festival.
Pete
Price plays bass and provides backup harmony vocals. His musical
career began in the third grade, learning Beatles songs on
the guitar with his brother. He never put it down, and played
in a number of bands during his high school and college years.
He even took a guitar to sea on a submarine during his time
in the Navy. With space onboard at a premium, he literally slept
with it for ten weeks. Originally from Virginia, he has
been involved in Florida Folk music since moving to the area
in 1997. Pete, also a singer/songwriter, has written a number
of original songs. His primary influences include the Beatles,
the Byrds, Poco, and the Eagles.
Ingrid
Ellis brings flute, rhythm instruments, and backup harmony
vocals to the group. She's been involved with music since age
5, when she began piano lessons. At age 9, she switched to
flute. She played more classical music then, being a part of
concert and symphony bands through high school. Mostly raised
in Michigan, she moved to Florida in 1983. Folk music became
a part of her life in 1992, when she began accompanying various
folk musicians while running an acoustic music coffeehouse.
